Thank you for posting this photo, my great great grandparents went there from Malta to work and then settled in Egypt. It is amazing to be able to see what life would have been for them. Helen
I'm glad I was able to contribute in some way, To help you to remind the good old days of the past in Egypt.. Did you visit Egypt before? If not hope you'll do. To see what life is, today.
Are you still around? I haven't been to Egypt before but I am hoping to at the end of the year. I have been doing a lot of research on my family history lately. What part of Egypt do you come from?
Still.. I'm from Alexandria. Where did your family lived in Egypt? If you intend to visit Egypt, especially for the first time, there are so many sites that you will want to visit, the length of your trip will never seem long enough! he adventure that is Egypt never ends! Don't miss the grandiose sites, such as Pyramids of Giza & Sphinx, Abu Simbel Temples, Al Azhar Beautiful Gardens in Cairo, Temples of Karnak & Valley of the Kings in Luxor, the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, or the Graeco-Roman Museum & Royal Jewelry Museum & Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Alexandria, the Siwa Oasis in the middle of the desert. The Sinai, the Beauty of the Nile, the Wonders of the Red Sea, or the long coastlines on the Mediterranean Sea, to name but a few. There is nothing worse than wishing you had visited some place you didn't! You don't get the opportunity to visit Egypt everyday! Egypt is Waiting for you!!
Hi.. lovely to hear from you My grandmother was born in Beni Suef, upper Egypt, moved to Cairo.. a suburb called shubra, then married and moved to Jaffa in Palestine. My great-grandmother lived in Suez for some time. My grandfathers side are from Alexandria, he was born there but his father was Italian. I am struggling to find the church my grandparents were married in, we had it recored as St Marks Cathedral, a catholic church in Shubra but according to the Internet it doesn't exist. it is frustrating. I may have to come all the way just to try to find it myself. I can't imagine a more beautiful place to live. I have always been fascinated by Egypt. Sounds like you have seen all of these places listed above..Have you been to Australia?
