The
Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Library of Alexandria is a major library and cultural
center located on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea in the city of Alexandria,
in Egypt.
It
is both a commemoration of the Library of Alexandria, that was lost in
antiquity, and an attempt to rekindle something of the brilliance that this
earlier center of study and erudition represented.
The
new library was build again in close proximity to the old Library area at
Chatby.
Work
began in 1995.
It
was inaugurated October 16, 2002.

La Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Bibliothèque d'Alexandrie est
une importante bibliotheque et centre culturel situé sur les rives de la
Méditerranée dans la ville d'Alexandrie, en Égypte.
Elle est à la fois une commémoration de la Bibliothèque
d'Alexandrie qui a été perdue dans l'antiquité, et une tentative de raviver
quelque chose de la splendeur que cet antérieure centre d'étude et érudition
représentaient.
La nouvelle bibliothèque a été construite de nouveau à proximité
de la région de l'ancienne bibliothèque à Chatby.
Les travaux débutèrent en 1995.
Elle fut inaugurée le 16 octobre 2002.
